Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) did not receive a single vote in 106 electronic ballot boxes in the runoff of the presidential election, held on Sunday (25). In those same polling stations, re-elected President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) received 14,860 votes.

The data are part of a survey by Paris Group, published this Tuesday (27) by the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo. The company used artificial intelligence to map the results of polling stations across the country.

Where the ballot boxes are

Most of the polling stations with no votes for the PL candidate are in the North (65) and the Northeast (29). Another six are in the Center-West, three in the Southeast and three in the South.

In the state of Amazonas, Flávio got zero votes in ballot boxes in 13 municipalities, including Tabatinga, Maués, Parintins, São Gabriel da Cachoeira and Benjamin Constant. In one of the polling stations in Tabatinga, Lula received 354 votes and Flávio none.

Cities that switched sides

The study also identified 211 municipalities where Lula won the runoff after Flávio had led the first round. The list includes cities such as Rio de Janeiro, Osasco, Cotia and Araraquara. Minas Gerais accounts for 76 of these municipalities.

The city of Rio de Janeiro, with about 4.9 million voters, is the largest municipality to have reversed the result: Lula finished the runoff in Rio with a lead of 644,000 votes.

What the numbers don’t show

The survey does not explain why Flávio Bolsonaro received no votes in these polling stations, and the numbers alone do not indicate any irregularity in the electoral process — a conclusion of that kind would require other evidence. The data also refer only to the 106 ballot boxes identified and do not represent the behavior of the electorate across the country as a whole.

Lula was re-elected with 51.79% of the valid votes, against 48.21% for Flávio, who had finished ahead in the first round.
